Competition, Integration, Co-operation: Regional and International Aspects of the Economic Development of the Baltic Region

Riga, March 25, 2006

On March 25, 2006 the Baltic Forum wass holding an international scientific conference for doctoral students, aspirants and young researchers.

The aim of the conference was to involve young scientists and professionals from different countries in the discussion of the following priority issues:

Competitiveness of national economies of the Baltic region states in conditions of globalization.

The development models of the economies of the Baltic region states (territories) and the prospects of sectoral competition.

The investment climate in the Baltic region. Evaluation of effectiveness and analysis of investment activity.

Interregional and intersectoral co-operation: prerequisites and mechanisms.

Social and economic aspects of the integration of Baltic regions into the EU.

The role of financial institutions, production sector and science in the formation of the national competitiveness.

Human capital as a competition factor: the prospects of professional education in the Baltic states in conditions of globalization.

Participants - representatives of Latvia, Poland, Lithuania, Russia and Estonia.

The conference was held with the assistance of the Economics and Management Faculty of the Latvian University, the Social Sciences and Economics Faculty of the Daugavpils University and of the Transport and Communications Institute. The official languages of the conference were Latvian and Russian.

 

 

Books

Development Priorities of Latvia
The Baltic forum invited the scientist and analyst of economic processes of ‘Neatkarīgā Rīta Avīze' Juris Paiders and president of the Baltic Forum Jānis Urbanovičs to a discussion. The goal of the discussion was to map out the change that has matured in the Latvian society and to understand how it should be treated both in the nearest future and in a further perspective up to 2025. Conference 2011

On May 28, 2011, the Baltic Forum held its annual conference. This year's conference, titled The Continent of Eurasia After the Crisis: Challenges and Prospects for Cooperation. See more
